WP All Import Automations
How to Post a Slack Message When a WP All Import Import Is Completed
When a scheduled import feeds your catalogue or directory, the whole team benefits from seeing it finish. Zapify can post the result to Slack with the An import is completed trigger and the Send a Slack message action. The trigger is free; the Slack action is Zapify PRO.
What this automation does
The automation is one trigger plus one action:
- Trigger: An import is completed (
WPAI_IMPORT_COMPLETED, WP All Import) - Action: Send a Slack message (
SLACK_SEND_MESSAGE, Slack)
When an import finishes, Zapify posts a message with its name and counts to the channel you choose.
Before you start
- WP All Import installed and active, with an import saved.
- A Slack app for your workspace with a bot user OAuth token (starts
xoxb-) that has thechat:writescope — see Slack's authentication basics. - The bot invited into the channel it should post to.
PRO feature
The Send a Slack message action is part of the Slack PRO integration and needs an active Zapify PRO licence and a Connection. The WP All Import trigger is free.
How to build the automation
Step 1: Connect Slack
- Go to Settings → Connections and click Add New.

- Choose Slack, paste in the bot user OAuth token, and name the connection something like Ops Slack.

- Save. See Connections for how this screen works.
Step 2: Create a new automation
- In the WordPress admin, go to Zapify → Automations.
- Click Add New to open the builder.
- Name it clearly, such as Post import results to Slack.

Step 3: Add the "An import is completed" trigger
- Click Add Trigger.

- Choose WP All Import as the app.

- Select An import is completed.

- Pick the Import to watch, or leave it as Any import.
Step 4: Add the "Send a Slack message" action
- Click Add Action.

- Choose Slack as the app.

- Select Send a Slack message.

Step 5: Configure the action
| Field | Required | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Connection | Yes | The Slack connection from Step 1. |
| Channel | Yes | A channel name such as #catalogue, or its ID. The bot must already be a member. |
| Message | Yes | The text to post. Insert the trigger's tokens. |
For example:
- Channel:
#catalogue - Message:
Import "{{trigger:IMPORT_NAME}}" finished: {{trigger:CREATED_COUNT}} created, {{trigger:UPDATED_COUNT}} updated, {{trigger:SKIPPED_COUNT}} skipped, {{trigger:DELETED_COUNT}} deleted.
Step 6: Set the steps Live and save
Each trigger and action has its own Live / Off / Draft switch. A new automation starts as a Draft and does nothing until its steps are Live.
- Set the trigger and every action to Live.
- Click Save.

Step 7: Test it
Run the import. Check the Slack channel, or Zapify → Logs — a failed post shows Slack's own error, such as not_in_channel.
Tokens you can use
The An import is completed trigger exposes Import ID, Import name, Records created, Records updated, Records skipped, Records deleted, Import type, Import file name and Started by. See sending an email when an import is completed for what each one holds.
Conclusion
With the An import is completed trigger and the Send a Slack message action, imports report themselves to the channel where people already look. For a failure alert, see emailing when an import fails.
FAQs
Is this free in Zapify?
The trigger is free. The Slack action needs an active Zapify PRO licence and a Connection.
Can I post only when something was created?
Not with a filter on this trigger. Use the automation's conditions to continue only when Records created is above zero. See Filters and conditions.
Why did the message not arrive?
Open Zapify → Logs. not_in_channel means the bot has not been invited to the channel; channel_not_found means the name or ID is wrong.
Do I need to write any code?
No. The connection and every field are configured visually.
