How to Create a ClickUp Task When a Contact Form 7 Form Is Submitted

A submitted enquiry is only useful if somebody owns it. Zapify turns each Contact Form 7 submission into a ClickUp task with the free A form is submitted trigger and the Create a task action. The trigger is free; ClickUp is Zapify PRO.

What this automation does

The automation is one trigger plus one action:

  • Trigger: A form is submitted (CF7_FORM_SUBMITTED, Contact Form 7)
  • Action: Create a task (CLICKUP_CREATE_TASK, ClickUp)

Each time the form is submitted, Zapify creates a task in the ClickUp list you choose, with the submission in its description.

Before you start

  • Contact Form 7 installed and active, with a published form.
  • A ClickUp personal API token, from Settings → Apps — see ClickUp's authentication docs.
  • The List ID of the list new tasks should land in — the number in the list's URL.

PRO feature

ClickUp is a Zapify PRO integration and needs a Connection under Settings → Connections. The A form is submitted trigger itself is free.

How to build the automation

Step 1: Connect ClickUp

  1. Go to Settings → Connections and click Add New.

Open the Connections tab

  1. Choose ClickUp, paste in your API token, and name the connection something like Support ClickUp.

Add the ClickUp connection

  1. Save.

See Connections for how this screen works generally.

Step 2: Create a new automation

  1. In the WordPress admin, go to Zapify → Automations.
  2. Click Add New to open the builder.

Step 5: Configure the action

Description No Insert All fields to include every answer, or pick individual field tokens.

Step 6: Set the steps Live and save

Each trigger and action has its own Live / Off / Draft switch. A new automation starts as a Draft and does nothing until its steps are Live.

  1. Set the trigger and every action to Live.
  2. Click Save.

Step 7: Test it

Submit the form. A task should appear in the list within a minute, or open Zapify → Logs.

Tokens you can use

Once you select a specific Contact Form 7 form, the trigger exposes these tokens. Insert them anywhere in the email with the {} button.

Token What it holds
Form ID The numeric ID of the submitted form.
Form title The form's name.
Submitted at The date and time of the submission.
All fields Every submitted field rendered as one labelled block — handy when you just want the whole submission in the email.
One token per field The value the visitor entered in that field, named after the field's tag (for example a your-email tag becomes a your-email token).

Multi-value fields such as checkbox groups are joined into a readable, comma-separated list.

Conclusion

With the free A form is submitted trigger and the Create a task action, no enquiry sits unowned. For Gravity Forms, see creating a ClickUp task when a Gravity Forms form is submitted.

FAQs

Is this free in Zapify?

The trigger is free. The ClickUp action needs an active Zapify PRO licence and a Connection.

Can I assign the task?

Use the list's own ClickUp automations or default assignee. Zapify creates the task in the list you choose.

Do I need to write any code?

No. Everything is set up visually.
