LearnDash Automations

Send a Welcome Email When a User Is Enrolled on a LearnDash Course

You want new students to get a welcome email the moment they gain access to a course — whether they bought it, were added manually, or were enrolled by another automation. Zapify does this with the A user is enrolled on a course trigger and the Send an email action. LearnDash is a Zapify PRO integration.

What this automation does

The automation is one trigger plus one action:

  • Trigger: A user is enrolled on a course (LEARNDASH_COURSE_ENROLLED, LearnDash)
  • Action: Send an email (WP_SEND_EMAIL, WordPress)

When a student is enrolled on the course you choose, Zapify fills the email's tokens and sends it.

Zapify listens on LearnDash's learndash_update_course_access hook, which fires the same way whichever direction access changed. This trigger takes only the grant half of that event — a separate trigger, a user is removed from a course, takes the other half.

Before you start

  • LearnDash must be installed and active.
  • Zapify PRO must be active, since LearnDash is a PRO integration.
  • The course you want to watch must already exist.

PRO feature

LearnDash (learndash) is a Zapify PRO integration. Every LearnDash trigger and action requires an active PRO licence.

Conclusion

With the A user is enrolled on a course trigger and the Send an email action, Zapify welcomes every new student the moment they gain access — no matter how they got it. Next, congratulate them when they finish with an email when a LearnDash course is completed, or grant access automatically after a WooCommerce sale with enrol a user on a course when a WooCommerce product is purchased.

FAQs

Does this fire regardless of how the student enrolled?

Yes. LearnDash fires learndash_update_course_access whether the student purchased access, was enrolled manually, or was enrolled by another automation, so the trigger covers all of them.

Does this also fire when a student is removed from a course?

No. Enrolling and removing share one LearnDash hook, but Zapify splits it into two separate triggers so you build a different sentence for each. Use a user is removed from a course for the other direction.

Is this feature free?

No. LearnDash is a Zapify PRO integration; the trigger and action both require an active PRO licence.

Can I limit this to one course?

Yes, using the Course field in the trigger configuration.

Do I need to write any code?

No. Everything is configured in the Zapify visual builder.
