WP All Import Automations

How to Send an Email When a WP All Import Import Fails

An import that quietly stops means stale prices, missing products or an out-of-date directory. Zapify can email you the moment WP All Import reports a failed import, using the An import fails trigger and the Send an email action. Both are free.

What this automation does

The automation is one trigger plus one action:

  • Trigger: An import fails (WPAI_IMPORT_FAILED, WP All Import)
  • Action: Send an email (WP_SEND_EMAIL, WordPress)

When WP All Import reports that an import failed, Zapify sends you an email naming the import.

Before you start

  • WP All Import installed and active, with at least one import saved.
  • A working mail setup so WordPress can send email.

Test this one with a broken import

The failure trigger listens for the failure notice WP All Import sends when an import cannot continue. Not every kind of problem produces that notice, and an import that simply finds nothing new is not a failure. Before you rely on this automation, try it once with a deliberately broken import, such as a feed URL that does not exist, and confirm the email arrives.

How to build the automation

Step 1: Create a new automation

  1. In the WordPress admin, go to Zapify → Automations.
  2. Click Add New to open the builder.
  3. Name it clearly, such as Alert me when an import fails.

Step 4: Configure the email

For example:

  • To: webmaster@example.com
  • Subject: Import failed: {{trigger:IMPORT_NAME}}
  • Body: The import {{trigger:IMPORT_NAME}} (ID {{trigger:IMPORT_ID}}) failed. Details: {{trigger:ERROR}}. Check All Import → Manage Imports for its log.

Complete the Send an Email action

Step 5: Set the steps Live and save

Each trigger and action has its own Live / Off / Draft switch. A new automation starts as a Draft and does nothing until its steps are Live.

  1. Set the trigger and every action to Live.
  2. Click Save.

Set the automation live

Step 6: Test it

Point a test import at a feed that does not exist and run it. Check the inbox, or Zapify → Logs.

Tokens you can use

Token What it holds
Import ID / Import name Which import failed.
Error message The reason, when WP All Import provides one. It is often empty, so always point readers to the import's own log under All Import → Manage Imports as well.

Conclusion

With the An import fails trigger and the Send an email action, a broken feed reaches you before it reaches your customers. Pair it with a summary email when an import completes.

FAQs

Is this free in Zapify?

Yes. The trigger and the Send an email action are both free.

Why is the error message empty?

WP All Import does not always hand over a reason. The email still tells you which import failed, and its log has the detail.

Will it tell me about an import that ran but changed nothing?

No. That is a finished import, not a failed one. Use the completed trigger and look at the counts.

Can I send this to Slack instead?

Yes. Swap the email action for Send a Slack message, as in this Slack guide.

Do I need to write any code?

No. Everything is configured in the Zapify visual builder.
