Brevo Automations

How to Delete a Brevo Contact When a Gravity Forms Form Is Submitted

People are entitled to ask you to erase their data. Zapify can delete their Brevo contact the moment they submit a request form, using the A form is submitted trigger and the Delete a contact action. Brevo is a Zapify PRO integration.

What this automation does

The automation is one trigger plus one action:

  • Trigger: A form is submitted (GRAVITYFORMS_FORM_SUBMITTED, Gravity Forms)
  • Action: Delete a contact (BREVO_DELETE_CONTACT, Brevo)

When someone submits your request form, Zapify deletes the contact with that email address from Brevo.

Deleting is permanent

Brevo has no bin for contacts. Once deleted, the contact and its history in Brevo cannot be brought back. Test with a throwaway contact, and think about who can reach the form. Anyone who can submit it can delete the contact for any address they type, so see the FAQs for how to confirm identity first.

Before you start

  • Gravity Forms installed and active, with a published request form that has an email field.
  • A Brevo account (formerly Sendinblue).
  • A Brevo API key — a v3 key from SMTP & API → API keys in your Brevo account, not an SMTP key. Brevo's own page for it is here.

PRO feature

Brevo is a Zapify PRO integration and needs a Connection under Settings → Connections. The Gravity Forms trigger used here is free.

How to build the automation

Step 1: Connect Brevo

  1. Go to Settings → Connections and click Add New.

Open the Connections tab

  1. Choose Brevo, paste in your API key, and name the connection something like Marketing Brevo.

Add the Brevo connection

  1. Click Test. Zapify asks Brevo whose account the key belongs to and answers with something like Connected to Brevo as Your Company (you@example.com), which catches a key pasted from the wrong account.
  2. Save.

See Connections for how this screen works generally.

Step 2: Create a new automation

  1. In the WordPress admin, go to Zapify → Automations.
  2. Click Add New to open the builder.
  3. Name it clearly, such as Delete Brevo contact on erasure request.

Step 5: Configure the action

Field Required What it does
Connection Yes The Brevo connection from Step 1.
Email address Yes Insert the token for the form's email field. This is the contact that will be deleted.

Step 6: Set the steps Live and save

Each trigger and action has its own Live / Off / Draft switch. A new automation starts as a Draft and does nothing until its steps are Live.

  1. Set the trigger and every action to Live.
  2. Click Save.

Set the automation live

Step 7: Test it

Create a throwaway contact in Brevo, submit the form with its address, and check that it is gone. Zapify → Logs shows … was deleted from Brevo. If there is no such contact, the run fails and says There is no contact with the address … in Brevo, so there was nothing to delete.

Tokens you can use

Token What it holds
Form title / Entry ID / Submitted at Which entry asked for the deletion, for your records.
One token per form field Appear once you choose the form.

Conclusion

With the A form is submitted trigger and the Delete a contact action, an erasure request is handled in seconds. For the safer option of simply taking someone off a list, see removing a contact from a Brevo list.

FAQs

Is this free in Zapify?

The Gravity Forms trigger is free. The Brevo action needs an active Zapify PRO licence and a Connection.

How do I stop someone deleting another person's contact?

Do not use the address typed into the form as proof of identity. Show the form only to logged-in users and use the account's own email, or use an email confirmation step first. Zapify's conditions, a PRO feature, can also hold the run unless a check passes. See Filters and conditions.

Does this erase them from my WordPress site too?

No. It only deletes the Brevo contact. WordPress has its own personal-data erasure tools under Tools → Erase Personal Data.

What if the contact does not exist?

The run fails with a message saying there was nothing to delete, which is a sign the address was mistyped or already removed.

Do I need to write any code?

No. The API key is the only thing you copy from outside Zapify.
