Groundhogg Automations
How to Add a Groundhogg Tag When a Logged-In User Views a Page
A visit to a pricing page or a particular product guide is a buying signal. Zapify can tag the visitor in Groundhogg the moment they open it, so your funnels can follow up on real interest. It uses the free A user views a post trigger and the Add tags to a contact action. Groundhogg is a Zapify PRO integration.
Use sparingly
This is the one trigger that fires on ordinary page loads. Point it at one deliberately chosen page, not at a whole post type, or it runs on every visit your site gets. It only runs on the public front end.
What this automation does
The automation is one trigger plus one action:
- Trigger: A user views a post (
WP_USER_VIEWS_POST, WordPress) - Action: Add tags to a contact (
GROUNDHOGG_ADD_TAG, Groundhogg)
When a logged-in visitor opens the page you choose, Zapify applies your tag to their Groundhogg contact, creating the contact from their account if needed.
PRO feature
Groundhogg is a Zapify PRO integration. The Groundhogg action used in this automation needs an active Zapify PRO licence.
Logged-in visitors only
This automation tags the person the run is attributed to, so it only works for visitors who are logged in. A logged-out visitor has no contact to tag, so nothing is added.
Before you start
- Groundhogg installed and active.
- The one page worth watching, and a tag name such as
viewed-pricing.
How to build the automation
Step 1: Create a new automation
- In the WordPress admin, go to Zapify → Automations.
- Click Add New to open the builder.
- Name it clearly, such as Tag members who view the pricing page.

Step 2: Add the "A user views a post" trigger
- Click Add Trigger.

- Choose WordPress as the app.

- Select A user views a post.

- Configure the fields:
| Field | Required | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Post type | Yes | Choose Page (or Post). |
| Post | No | Pick the exact page, such as your pricing page. |
Step 3: Add the "Add tags to a contact" action
- Click Add Action.

- Choose Groundhogg as the app.

- Select Add tags to a contact.

Step 4: Configure the action
| Field | Required | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Tags | One of the two | Pick one or more tags that already exist in Groundhogg. |
| Tag names | One of the two | Type tag names separated by commas. A name that does not exist yet is created, so the automation works the first time you run it. Matching ignores upper and lower case. |
| Contact email | No | Leave empty to tag the visitor who viewed the page. |
Step 5: Set the steps Live and save
Each trigger and action has its own Live / Off / Draft switch. A new automation starts as a Draft and does nothing until its steps are Live.
- Set the trigger and every action to Live.
- Click Save.
Turn on the automation's run once per user setting so a visitor refreshing the page does not run it again and again.

Step 6: Test it
Log in as a test user and open the page. Check the user's contact in Groundhogg → Contacts for the tag, or open Zapify → Logs to confirm the run.
Conclusion
With the free A user views a post trigger and the Add tags to a contact action, you can turn quiet interest into a Groundhogg tag that starts a funnel. For an alert to your team instead of a tag, see sending an email when someone views a page.
FAQs
Is this free in Zapify?
The A user views a post trigger is free. Add tags to a contact is part of the Groundhogg PRO integration and needs an active Zapify PRO licence.
Will it tag visitors who are not logged in?
No. A logged-out visitor has no user to attribute the run to, so there is nobody to tag. The log shows the reason.
Why does it keep running when I refresh?
A view is not a one-off event. Turn on run once per user on the automation so only the first view counts.
Can I watch several pages?
Create one automation per page, each with its own tag.
Do I need to write any code?
No. Everything is configured visually.
