LifterLMS Automations
Mark a LifterLMS Section Complete When a Quiz Is Passed
A quiz can be used as a checkpoint for a learning section. When the learner passes the assessment, Zapify can use the Mark a section complete action to update their LifterLMS progress.
What this automation does
The automation is one trigger plus one action:
- Trigger: A user completes a quiz (
LIFTERLMS_QUIZ_COMPLETED) with Result = Passed - Action: Mark a section complete (
LIFTERLMS_MARK_SECTION_COMPLETE)
When the selected quiz is passed, Zapify marks the configured LifterLMS section complete for the student who passed the quiz.
Before you start
- LifterLMS must be installed and active.
- Zapify PRO must be active, since LifterLMS is a PRO integration.
- The target section must already exist in LifterLMS and should contain lessons.
PRO feature
LifterLMS (lifterlms) is a Zapify PRO integration. The LifterLMS trigger and action used in this automation require an active PRO licence.
How to build the automation
Step 1: Create a new automation
- In the WordPress admin, go to Zapify → Automations.
- Click Add New to open the builder.
- Give the automation a clear name, such as Complete a section after a passing assessment.

Step 2: Add the "A user completes a quiz" trigger
- Click Add Trigger.

- Choose LifterLMS as the app.

- Select the trigger A user completes a quiz.

- Configure the trigger:
| Field | Required | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Quiz | Yes | Select the quiz that acts as the checkpoint. |
| Result | Yes | Select Passed so the action runs only after a passing result. |
Step 3: Add the "Mark a section complete" action
- Click Add Action.

- Choose LifterLMS as the app.

- Select the action Mark a section complete.

- Configure the action:
| Field | Required | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Section ID | Yes | Enter the post ID of the LifterLMS section to complete. |
| User | No | Leave empty to use the student who passed the quiz. |
For the normal workflow, leave User empty so the section is completed for the learner who triggered the automation.
Step 4: Set the steps Live and save
- Set both the trigger and the action to Live.
- Click Save.

Action output tokens
| Token | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Section ID | The section Zapify marked complete. |
| User ID | The user for whom the section was completed. |
How to test it
- Choose a test student.
- Make sure the target section is not already complete.
- Take the selected quiz and submit a passing attempt.
- Check the student's LifterLMS progress for the target section.
- Open Zapify → Logs if the section was not completed and inspect the action result.
Important configuration note
The Section ID field expects the WordPress post ID of a LifterLMS section. Do not enter the quiz ID or lesson ID.
Conclusion
This automation makes a quiz a completion gate for a LifterLMS section. It is useful when an assessment should confirm mastery before a section is considered complete.
FAQs
Does a failed quiz complete the section?
No. The trigger is configured with Result = Passed.
Does Zapify need the user ID?
Not for the normal case. Leave User empty and Zapify uses the student who passed the quiz.
Can I choose any section?
Yes. Enter the post ID of the LifterLMS section you want the action to complete.
Why does the action involve the section's lessons?
LifterLMS derives section completion from lesson progress. The action therefore works with the lessons and LifterLMS completion API to ensure the section is actually completed.
Do I need to write any code?
No. Everything is configured in the Zapify visual builder.
