bbPress Automations
Send an Email When a User Creates a bbPress Forum
On most sites, new forums are a deliberate decision, and you want to know the moment one appears — especially if you let members or other editors create their own. Zapify tells you straight away with the A user creates a forum trigger and the Send an email action, including who created it and where it sits.
What this automation does
The automation is one trigger plus one action:
- Trigger: A user creates a forum (
BBP_FORUM_CREATED, bbPress) - Action: Send an email (
WP_SEND_EMAIL, WordPress)
When a forum is created, Zapify emails the address you set with the forum's details and its creator.
The trigger sees forums created from a front-end form, from the WordPress admin and through the REST API. A forum saved as a draft in the admin runs the automation when it is first published, not when the draft is saved. The automation is about forums created by a user with an account.
Before you start
- bbPress must be installed and active.
bbPress is required
This automation needs bbPress installed and active. If it is missing, Zapify can offer to install it from the trigger picker. bbPress is a free Zapify integration.
How to build the automation
Step 1: Create a new automation
- In the WordPress admin, go to Zapify → Automations.
- Click Add New to open the builder.
- Name it clearly, such as Tell the admin about new forums.

Step 2: Add the "A user creates a forum" trigger
- Click Add Trigger.
- Choose bbPress as the app.
- Select the trigger A user creates a forum.
- In the trigger's Parent forum field, pick a specific parent forum to be told only about forums created under it, or leave it on Any parent forum.

Step 3: Add the "Send an email" action
- Click Add Action.
- Choose WordPress as the app.
- Select Send an email.

Step 4: Write the email
Use the {} token button beside any field to insert the forum's details.

| Field | Required | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| To | Yes | Type the address of whoever should hear about new forums. |
| Subject | Yes | The subject line. Tokens are allowed. |
| Format | Yes | HTML (default) or Plain text. |
| Body | Yes | The message. Tokens are allowed. |
| Cc / Bcc | No | Extra recipients. |
| From name / From email | No | Override the sender. |
| Reply to | No | Where replies go. |
For example:
- To:
admin@example.com - Subject:
New forum created: {Forum title} - Body:
{Author name} created the forum {Forum title}. Take a look: {Forum URL}

Step 5: Set the steps Live and save
- Set both the trigger and the action to Live. A new automation starts as Draft and will not run until its steps are Live.
- Click Save.

| Token | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Forum ID | The numeric ID of the new forum. |

How to test it
- Create a new forum, either from your site's forum form or in the WordPress admin.
- Check the recipient's inbox for the email.
- If nothing arrives, open Zapify → Logs to see whether the run fired.

FAQs
Does it run when I create a forum myself in the admin?
Yes. Forums created in the WordPress admin count, as do forums created from a front-end form or through the REST API.
Can I be told only about forums created under a certain parent?
Yes, and it is free. Set the trigger's Parent forum field to that forum instead of Any parent forum.
Is this feature free?
Yes. bbPress is a free Zapify integration, and both the A user creates a forum trigger and the Send an email action are included in the free plan.
Why didn't the email send?
First confirm both the trigger and the action are set to Live and the automation is saved. Then check Zapify → Logs. If the run succeeded but no email arrived, the cause is usually the site's mail configuration; an SMTP plugin resolves most delivery problems.
Do I need to write any code?
No. Everything is configured in the Zapify visual builder.
