How to Add a New WordPress User to ActiveCampaign
Want every new WordPress account to appear in ActiveCampaign without anyone importing a file? Zapify does this with the free A user registers trigger and the Add or update a contact action. ActiveCampaign is a Zapify PRO integration.
What this automation does
The automation is one trigger plus one action:
- Trigger: A user registers (
WP_USER_REGISTERS, WordPress) - Action: Add or update a contact (
ACTIVECAMPAIGN_ADD_CONTACT, ActiveCampaign)
When a new account is created, Zapify adds that person to ActiveCampaign, or updates their contact if they already exist.
Before you start
- Your ActiveCampaign API URL and API key, from your account's Settings → Developer page — see ActiveCampaign's guide if you can't find it.
PRO feature
ActiveCampaign is a Zapify PRO integration and needs a Connection under Settings → Connections. The A user registers trigger itself is free.
How to build the automation
Step 1: Connect ActiveCampaign
- Go to Settings → Connections and click Add New.

- Choose ActiveCampaign.

-
Paste in the API URL (no trailing slash) and the API key, and name the connection something like Sales ActiveCampaign.
-
Save.
See Connections for how this screen works generally.
Step 2: Create a new automation
- In the WordPress admin, go to Zapify → Automations.
- Click Add New to open the builder.
- Name it clearly, such as Add new users to ActiveCampaign.

Step 3: Add the "A user registers" trigger
- Click Add Trigger.

- Choose WordPress as the app.

- Select A user registers.

Step 4: Add the "Add or update a contact" action
- Click Add Action.

- Choose ActiveCampaign as the app.

- Select Add or update a contact.

Step 5: Configure the action
| Field | Required | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Connection | Yes | The ActiveCampaign connection you set up in Step 1. |
| Email address | Yes | Insert the trigger's User email token. |
| First name / Last name | No | Insert the trigger's First name and Last name tokens. |
Step 6: Set the steps Live and save
Each trigger and action has its own Live / Off / Draft switch. A new automation starts as a Draft and does nothing until its steps are Live.
- Set the trigger and every action to Live.
- Click Save.

Step 7: Test it
Register a test account with an address you control. Check ActiveCampaign's Contacts list for the new record, or open Zapify → Logs to see the HTTP status ActiveCampaign returned.
Tokens you can use
| Token | What it holds |
|---|---|
| User email | The new account's email address. |
| Display name / First name / Last name | Name parts, if set. |
| Username | The login name. |
| Registration date | When they registered. |
Conclusion
With the free A user registers trigger and the Add or update a contact action, new accounts reach ActiveCampaign automatically. To capture leads from a form instead, see adding a Contact Form 7 submission to ActiveCampaign.
FAQs
Is this free in Zapify?
The trigger is free. The ActiveCampaign action needs an active Zapify PRO licence and a Connection.
What if the contact already exists?
ActiveCampaign updates the existing contact, so running it again for the same person is safe.
Do new users agree to marketing emails?
A WordPress account is not always consent. If you need it, collect it on your registration form and only continue when it is ticked. See Filters and conditions.
Do I need to write any code?
No. Everything is set up visually.
