WordPress Automations

Send an Email When Someone Views a Specific WordPress Page

A visit to a pricing page, a case study, or a "book a demo" landing page is sometimes worth a human knowing about immediately — before a form is ever filled in. Zapify does this with the A user views a post trigger and the Send an email action — both free.

Use sparingly

This is the one trigger in Zapify that fires on ordinary page loads. Point it at a single, deliberately chosen page — a pricing page, a specific landing page — not at a whole post type, or it will fire on every visit your site gets. It only runs on the public front end, never on admin, REST, or cron requests.

What this automation does

The automation is one trigger plus one action:

  • Trigger: A user views a post (WP_USER_VIEWS_POST, WordPress)
  • Action: Send an email (WP_SEND_EMAIL, WordPress)

Every time the page you choose is viewed on the front end, Zapify fires and sends the email.

A view is not a one-time state change the way a purchase or a registration is, so without a limit this automation runs again on every single page load — including the same visitor refreshing the page. Use the automation's run once per user setting (part of every automation, not specific to this trigger) if you only want a logged-in visitor's first view to count; it can't individually track a logged-out visitor, since there's no user to attribute the run to.

Before you start

  • Decide on the one page (or handful of pages) worth watching — this trigger is not meant for high-traffic content.
  • Both the trigger and the action are free.

How to build the automation

Step 1: Create a new automation

  1. In the WordPress admin, go to Zapify → Automations.
  2. Click Add New to open the builder.
  3. Name it clearly, such as Alert on pricing page visit.

Step 2: Add the "A user views a post" trigger

  1. Click Add Trigger.

  1. Choose WordPress as the app.

Select A user views a post

  1. Configure the fields:
Field Required What it does
Post type Yes The post type to watch — Page, Post, or Any post type.
Post No A specific page or post, or Any post of that type.

For a single landing page, set Post type to Page and Post to that exact page.

Step 3: Add the "Send an email" action

  1. Click Add Action.

Add an action

Select Send an email

Step 4: Configure the email

For example:

  • To: sales@example.com
  • Subject: Pricing page viewed
  • Body: {{trigger:USER_DISPLAY_NAME}} just viewed {{trigger:POST_URL}} — this is empty for a logged-out visitor.

Complete the Send an Email Action

Step 5: Set the steps Live and save

  1. Set both the trigger and the action to Live.
  2. Click Save.

Set the automation live

Tokens you can use

Token What it holds
Post tokens (Post title, Post URL, etc.) The page or post that was viewed.
User tokens (User email, User display name, etc.) The visitor, if they were logged in — empty for an anonymous visit.

How to test it

  1. Visit the page you configured on the front end — logged in and logged out, if you want to check both cases.
  2. Check the recipient inbox for the email.
  3. If nothing arrives, open Zapify → Logs to see whether the run fired.

Conclusion

With the A user views a post trigger and the Send an email action, Zapify turns a single important page view into a real-time alert. Next, see the full range of what Zapify can watch for in triggers and actions.

FAQs

The trigger itself is lightweight, but every matching view queues an email and a log entry, so watching a high-traffic page will generate a lot of both. Use it for a small number of deliberately chosen pages, not general analytics.

Does this work for logged-out visitors?

Yes, the page view itself fires regardless of login state — but the user tokens are only populated for a visitor who's logged in.

Can I stop it firing on every repeat visit from the same person?

For logged-in visitors, yes — turn on run once per user on the automation itself, so the email only goes out the first time a given person views the page. A logged-out visitor can't be individually tracked this way, since the run isn't attributed to anyone.

Is this feature free?

Yes. Both the trigger and the Send an email action are free.

Do I need to write any code?

No. Everything is configured in the Zapify visual builder.
