Google Calendar Automations
How to Add a Follow-Up to Google Calendar When a New User Registers in WordPress
When somebody new signs up, a personal follow-up often turns a sign-up into a customer, and it is easy to forget. Zapify can put a reminder on your calendar for each one, using the free A user registers trigger and the Create an event in Google Calendar action. Google Calendar is a Zapify PRO integration.
What this automation does
The automation is one trigger plus one action:
- Trigger: A user registers (
WP_USER_REGISTERS, WordPress) - Action: Create an event in Google Calendar (
GCAL_CREATE_EVENT, Google Calendar)
When a new account is created, Zapify adds an all-day event for today, titled with the new user's name and with their email in the notes.
Before you start
- A Google Calendar connection. See Google Calendar actions for the one-time setup.
- A calendar you check each day, such as your own or a shared team calendar.
PRO feature
Google Calendar is a Zapify PRO integration and needs a Connection under Settings → Connections. The A user registers trigger itself is free.
How to build the automation
Step 1: Connect Google Calendar
Skip this step if you already have a Google Calendar connection.
- Go to Settings → Connections.

- Choose Google Calendar, paste in your Google Client ID and Client secret, click Connect and approve access.

Step 2: Create a new automation
- In the WordPress admin, go to Zapify → Automations.
- Click Add New to open the builder.
- Name it clearly, such as Follow-up reminder for new users.

Step 3: Add the "A user registers" trigger
- Click Add Trigger.

- Choose WordPress as the app.

- Select A user registers.

Step 4: Add the "Create an event in Google Calendar" action
- Click Add Action.

- Choose Google Calendar as the app.

- Select Create an event in Google Calendar.

Step 5: Configure the action
| Field | Required | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Connection | Yes | The Google account from Step 1. |
| Calendar | Yes | The calendar to put the reminder on. |
| Title | No | Follow up with {{trigger:USER_DISPLAY_NAME}} |
| Description | No | New sign-up. Email: {{trigger:USER_EMAIL}} |
| All-day event | No | Tick it. |
| Start | Yes | {{date:Y-m-d}}, which is today's date. |
| Email the guests | No | Nobody. There are no guests on this event. |
Leave End, Duration and Guests empty. An all-day event with no end lasts one day.
Step 6: Set the steps Live and save
Each trigger and action has its own Live / Off / Draft switch. A new automation starts as a Draft and does nothing until its steps are Live.
- Set the trigger and every action to Live.
- Click Save.

Step 7: Test it
Register a test user. An all-day event for today should appear on the calendar, or open Zapify → Logs to see the run.
Tokens you can use
The A user registers trigger exposes User email, Display name, First name, Last name and more. After the action runs it makes Event ID, Event link and Google Meet link available to later actions.
Conclusion
With the free A user registers trigger and the Create an event in Google Calendar action, every new sign-up becomes a reminder you will see. To log the same sign-ups somewhere you can filter, see logging new users to a Google Sheet.
FAQs
Is this free in Zapify?
The trigger is free. The Google Calendar action needs an active Zapify PRO licence and a Connection.
Can I put the reminder on a different day, such as three days after sign-up?
This guide uses today's date. To follow up later, add a Delay step before the action; see Delays.
Why is the event on the wrong day?
All-day events use the date in Start. {{date:Y-m-d}} is the date on your site, in your site's time zone, so check Settings → General in WordPress if your time zone looks off.
Can I invite someone to the event?
Yes. Put an email address, or a token such as User email, in Guests, and set Email the guests to Everyone.
Do I need to write any code?
No. Everything is configured in the Zapify visual builder.
