How to Log WPForms Submissions to a Google Sheet
Want every form submission logged to a spreadsheet you can filter, share, or plug into another tool — without copy-pasting from WordPress? Zapify does this with the free A form is submitted trigger (WPForms) and the Add a row to a spreadsheet action. Google Sheets is a Zapify PRO integration.
What this automation does
The automation is one trigger plus one action:
- Trigger: A form is submitted (
WPFORMS_FORM_SUBMITTED, WPForms) - Action: Add a row to a spreadsheet (
GOOGLESHEETS_APPEND_ROW, Google Sheets)
When a visitor submits the WPForms form you choose, Zapify appends a new row to the sheet you specify, with one column per value you map.
PRO feature
Google Sheets is a Zapify PRO integration and needs a Connection under Settings → Connections. The WPForms trigger itself is free.
Before you start
- WPForms installed and active, with at least one published form.
- A Google account with access to the destination spreadsheet.
- The spreadsheet's Spreadsheet ID — the long string in its URL, between
/d/and/edit.
How to build the automation
Step 1: Connect Google Sheets
Google Sheets connects by signing in rather than pasting a key.
- Go to Settings → Connections and click Add New.

-
Choose Google Sheets and click Connect.
-
Sign in with the Google account that has access to your sheet, and approve the permissions Google asks for.

See Connections for more on how OAuth connections work and how to reconnect one that expires.
Step 2: Create a new automation
- In the WordPress admin, go to Zapify → Automations.
- Click Add New to open the builder.

- Name it clearly, such as Log WPForms submissions to sheet.
Step 3: Add the "A form is submitted" trigger
- Click Add Trigger.

- Choose WPForms as the app.

- Select A form is submitted.

- In the Form field, pick the specific form to log.

Step 4: Add the "Add a row to a spreadsheet" action
- Click Add Action.

- Choose Google Sheets as the app, and select Add a row to a spreadsheet.

Step 5: Configure the action
| Field | Required | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Connection | Yes | The Google account you connected in Step 1. |
| Spreadsheet ID | Yes | The long ID from the sheet's URL. |
| Sheet name | No | The tab to append to. Defaults to the first one. |
| Columns | Yes | One entry per column, left to right — insert a form-field token into each. |

Match the order of your Columns entries to the order of the columns in your sheet — the first entry becomes the first column, and so on.
Values that look like formulas are escaped
A submitted value that starts with =, +, -, or @ would otherwise be read by Sheets as a formula. Zapify escapes these automatically so a field like =SUM(A1:A9) typed into your form lands in the sheet as text, not as a formula that runs.
Step 6: Set the steps Live and save
- Set both the trigger and the action to Live.
- Click Save.

Step 7: Test it
Submit the form yourself. Open the spreadsheet and check for the new row, or open Zapify → Logs to confirm the run and see the range Google Sheets reports it wrote to.
Tokens you can use
Once you've chosen a specific form in the trigger, Zapify exposes one token per field on that form. Insert whichever ones you want into the action's Columns entries, in the order you want them to appear.
Conclusion
With the free A form is submitted trigger and the Add a row to a spreadsheet action, Zapify keeps a running log of every submission somewhere you can filter, chart, or share. Combine it with an email when the form is submitted in the same automation to be notified as well as logged.
FAQs
Is this free in Zapify?
The WPForms trigger is free. Add a row to a spreadsheet is part of the Google Sheets PRO integration and needs an active Zapify PRO licence and a Connection.
Why does it sign in instead of asking for an API key?
Google Sheets uses OAuth rather than a pasted key — you approve access through Google's own consent screen, and Zapify stores the resulting token.
What if my Google connection stops working?
An OAuth token can be revoked from Google's side. Reconnect it from Settings → Connections — see Connections for more.
Can I write to a specific tab instead of the first one?
Yes, using the Sheet name field — enter the tab's name exactly as it appears in Google Sheets.
Does the order of my Columns entries matter?
Yes. The first Columns entry becomes the first column in the row, the second becomes the second, and so on — match them to your sheet's existing column layout.
Do I need to write any code?
No. The connection is a Google sign-in, and every field is configured visually in the Zapify builder.
