Brevo Automations

How to Send a Brevo Transactional Email When a WooCommerce Product Is Purchased

You may already have a well-designed email template in Brevo. Zapify can send it to a customer when they buy, filling in the order details, with the A product is purchased trigger and the Send a transactional email action. Brevo is a Zapify PRO integration.

What this automation does

The automation is one trigger plus one action:

  • Trigger: A product is purchased (WC_PRODUCT_PURCHASED, WooCommerce)
  • Action: Send a transactional email (BREVO_SEND_TRANSACTIONAL, Brevo)

When the chosen product is bought, Zapify asks Brevo to send your template to the customer, with the values you pass in. The design, subject and sender all come from the template in Brevo.

Before you start

  • WooCommerce installed and active.
  • A Brevo account (formerly Sendinblue).
  • A Brevo API key — a v3 key from SMTP & API → API keys in your Brevo account, not an SMTP key. Brevo's own page for it is here.
  • An active transactional template in Brevo. Only active templates are listed. It can use placeholders such as {{ params.ORDER_NUMBER }}.

PRO feature

Brevo is a Zapify PRO integration and needs a Connection under Settings → Connections. The WooCommerce trigger used here is free.

How to build the automation

Step 1: Connect Brevo

  1. Go to Settings → Connections and click Add New.

Open the Connections tab

  1. Choose Brevo, paste in your API key, and name the connection something like Marketing Brevo.

Add the Brevo connection

  1. Click Test. Zapify asks Brevo whose account the key belongs to and answers with something like Connected to Brevo as Your Company (you@example.com), which catches a key pasted from the wrong account.
  2. Save.

See Connections for how this screen works generally.

Step 2: Create a new automation

  1. In the WordPress admin, go to Zapify → Automations.
  2. Click Add New to open the builder.
  3. Name it clearly, such as Send my Brevo order template.

Select Send a transactional email

Step 5: Configure the action

Field Required What it does
Connection Yes The Brevo connection from Step 1.
Template Yes The Brevo template to send. Only active templates are listed.
Recipient email address Yes Insert the Billing email token.
Template parameters No One row per placeholder in the template. A key of ORDER_NUMBER fills {{ params.ORDER_NUMBER }} in the template.

For example, add these parameters:

  • ORDER_NUMBER set to {{trigger:ORDER_NUMBER}}
  • FIRST_NAME set to {{trigger:BILLING_FIRST_NAME}}
  • TOTAL set to {{trigger:ORDER_TOTAL}}

In your Brevo template, write {{ params.ORDER_NUMBER }}, {{ params.FIRST_NAME }} and {{ params.TOTAL }} where the values should appear.

Step 6: Set the steps Live and save

Each trigger and action has its own Live / Off / Draft switch. A new automation starts as a Draft and does nothing until its steps are Live.

  1. Set the trigger and every action to Live.
  2. Click Save.

Set the automation live

Step 7: Test it

Place a test order with an address you control. The email should arrive with the values filled in. Zapify → Logs shows The email was sent to …, and Brevo's own transactional logs show delivery.

Tokens you can use

Token What it holds
Billing email / first name / last name The customer.
Order number / Order total / Order currency / Order date / Product names The order, for template parameters.

The action makes one token available to later actions: Brevo message ID.

Conclusion

With the A product is purchased trigger and the Send a transactional email action, your Brevo design is sent automatically when someone buys. To send a welcome message instead, see sending a Brevo transactional email when a user registers.

FAQs

Is this free in Zapify?

The WooCommerce trigger is free. The Brevo action needs an active Zapify PRO licence and a Connection.

What is the difference from Zapify's own Send an email action?

Zapify's Send an email action sends through your own site's mail setup. Send a transactional email asks Brevo to send a template from your Brevo account, so delivery, design and sender come from Brevo.

Why is my template not listed?

Only active templates are listed, and the list is kept for ten minutes. Activate the template in Brevo and reopen the field a few minutes later.

My placeholders show up empty.

The key in Template parameters must match the name after params. in the template, including capital letters. A row with no value is not sent.

Is this the right choice for marketing emails?

No. Transactional emails are for messages about something a person did, such as an order. Send marketing messages through Brevo campaigns to people who have agreed to them.

Do I need to write any code?

No. The API key is the only thing you copy from outside Zapify.
