Brevo Automations

How to Add a WooCommerce Customer to Brevo When a Product Is Purchased

Buyers of a product are a ready-made list for care tips, upgrades and review requests. Zapify can add them to Brevo the moment they buy, with the free A product is purchased trigger and the Create or update a contact action. Brevo is a Zapify PRO integration.

What this automation does

The automation is one trigger plus one action:

  • Trigger: A product is purchased (WC_PRODUCT_PURCHASED, WooCommerce)
  • Action: Create or update a contact (BREVO_UPSERT_CONTACT, Brevo)

When the chosen product is bought, Zapify adds the buyer's billing email to Brevo with their details and your list, or updates their contact if it exists.

Before you start

  • WooCommerce installed and active.
  • A Brevo account (formerly Sendinblue).
  • A Brevo API key — a v3 key from SMTP & API → API keys in your Brevo account, not an SMTP key. Brevo's own page for it is here.
  • A list in Brevo for these customers.

PRO feature

Brevo is a Zapify PRO integration and needs a Connection under Settings → Connections. The WooCommerce trigger used here is free.

## How to build the automation

Step 1: Connect Brevo

  1. Go to Settings → Connections and click Add New.

Open the Connections tab

  1. Choose Brevo, paste in your API key, and name the connection something like Marketing Brevo.

Add the Brevo connection

  1. Click Test. Zapify asks Brevo whose account the key belongs to and answers with something like Connected to Brevo as Your Company (you@example.com), which catches a key pasted from the wrong account.
  2. Save.

See Connections for how this screen works generally.

Step 2: Create a new automation

  1. In the WordPress admin, go to Zapify → Automations.
  2. Click Add New to open the builder.
  3. Name it clearly, such as Add buyers to Brevo.

Step 5: Configure the action

Field Required What it does
Connection Yes The Brevo connection from Step 1.
Email address Yes Insert the Billing email token.
Attributes No Add FIRSTNAME with the Billing first name token, LASTNAME with Billing last name, and SMS with Billing phone.
Lists No The list for buyers of this product.

SMS numbers must be international

Brevo only accepts a phone number for the SMS attribute in international format, with a plus sign and the country code, such as +14155550123. Zapify tidies spaces, dashes and brackets, then refuses a number that is not in that form and says so in the log, rather than sending something Brevo would reject. If your checkout collects local numbers, leave SMS out.

Step 6: Set the steps Live and save

Each trigger and action has its own Live / Off / Draft switch. A new automation starts as a Draft and does nothing until its steps are Live.

  1. Set the trigger and every action to Live.
  2. Click Save.

Set the automation live

Step 7: Test it

Place a test order for the product. Check the contact and its list in Brevo, or Zapify → Logs.

Tokens you can use

Token What it holds
Billing email / first name / last name / phone The customer's details from the order.
Product names / Order number / Order total What was bought. You can put them in an attribute if you created one in Brevo.

Conclusion

With the A product is purchased trigger and the Create or update a contact action, buyers join the right Brevo list as they pay. To also send the order details by email, see sending a Brevo transactional email when a product is purchased.

FAQs

Is this free in Zapify?

The WooCommerce trigger is free. The Brevo action needs an active Zapify PRO licence and a Connection.

Does it work for guest checkouts?

Yes. The billing email is on the order, so an account is not needed.

A purchase is not always consent. If you need it, use double opt-in with a consent field on your form, or only continue when a checkout checkbox is ticked. See Filters and conditions.

Which attributes can I fill in?

Any attribute your Brevo account has, such as FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME and SMS. The Attribute dropdown lists them from your account, so you pick them rather than type them. A row with no value is skipped.

Why is my new list, attribute or template not in the dropdown?

Zapify keeps the lists, attributes and templates it reads from Brevo for ten minutes, so the builder does not call Brevo on every dropdown. Wait a few minutes and reopen the field. If the dropdown stays empty, use Test on the connection, because an unreachable Brevo gives an empty list.

Do I need to write any code?

No. The API key is the only thing you copy from outside Zapify.
