Give Link Management Access to WordPress Roles
By default, only WordPress Administrators can manage short links in URL Shortify. To let Editors, Authors, Contributors, or custom roles create and manage links without granting full admin rights, use the Access Control matrix in URL Shortify PRO to assign permissions per role.

Access Control is available in URL Shortify PRO, not in the free version. In the free version, link management is limited to Administrators.
What is Access Control?
Access Control is a URL Shortify PRO settings screen that maps WordPress roles to plugin permissions in a grid. Each row is a role and each column is a permission; tick the box where a role should have a capability. Administrators always have every permission and cannot be unchecked.
Grant link access to a role
- Go to URL Shortify → Settings → Access Control.
- In the Access matrix, find the row for the role you want to grant access to.
- Tick the checkbox under each permission that role should have.
- Click Save Settings.
Access Control permissions
The matrix offers these permissions per role:

Administrators are always granted every permission and their checkboxes are locked on. Assign only the permissions each role needs — for example, give Authors Create Link so they manage their own links, and reserve Settings for trusted roles.

Is Access Control available in the free version of URL Shortify?
No. Access Control and the role-to-permission matrix are URL Shortify PRO features. In the free version, only WordPress Administrators can create and manage short links. Upgrading to PRO adds the Access Control tab under URL Shortify → Settings, where you assign permissions to other roles.
Can I let an Author manage only their own links?
Yes. Grant the Author role the Create Link permission in the Access Control matrix. That lets users with the Author role generate new links and edit or delete only the links they created — not links created by other users. To let a role manage everyone's links, grant Manage Links instead.
Do administrators need to be given permissions?
