How to Duplicate a Short Link

Create a copy of an existing short link in one click. The duplicate keeps every setting of the original — target URL, redirect type, UTM parameters, tracking pixels, groups, tags and more — but gets its own freshly generated slug, so both links work independently and are tracked separately.

This is useful whenever you need a link that is almost the same as one you already built, without configuring it again from scratch.

PRO Feature

Duplicating links is available in URL Shortify PRO.

  1. Go to URL Shortify → Links.
  2. Hover over the link you want to copy.
  3. Click Duplicate in the row actions, next to Edit.

The copy is created immediately and appears in the list. Its name is the original name followed by (Copy), and it has a new short link of its own.

You can then click Edit on the copy to change whatever needs to differ — usually just the target URL or the slug.

  1. Go to URL Shortify → Links.
  2. Tick the checkbox next to each link you want to copy.
  3. Open the Bulk actions dropdown and choose Duplicate under Other Actions.
  4. Click Apply.

Every selected link is copied, and a notice confirms how many duplicates were created.

What Gets Copied

Copied to the duplicate Reset on the duplicate
Target URL and description Slug — a new one is generated automatically
Name, with (Copy) appended Click statistics — the copy starts at zero
Redirect type (301 / 302 / 307) Post or page association
Nofollow, Sponsored, Tracking, Parameter Forwarding Created by / created on
Status (enabled or disabled)
Expiry date and password
Custom domain
UTM parameters and UTM preset values
Dynamic redirection and link rotation rules
Tracking pixels
Groups and tags

The new slug respects your configured link prefix, so a duplicate of example.com/go/spring-sale becomes something like example.com/go/k0lx.

Good Ways to Use It

  • Campaign variants. Build one link with your UTM parameters, tracking pixels and group already set, then duplicate it for each channel and change only utm_source.
  • Seasonal reuse. Copy last year's sale link, point it at this year's landing page, and keep the old one's history intact.
  • A safe starting point. Duplicate a complex link with geo rules or link rotation instead of rebuilding that configuration by hand.
  • Testing. Make a copy to experiment with, so the original link you have already shared keeps working untouched.

Things to Know

  • The duplicate is a completely separate link. Editing one does not affect the other.
  • Click statistics are not copied. Each link records its own clicks from the moment it is created.
  • Refreshing the page after duplicating does not create another copy.
  • Auto link keywords are not copied. A keyword rule points at one specific link, and two rules competing for the same keyword would conflict with each other. Add a keyword to the copy manually if you need one.
  • Favourites are per user and are not copied.
