Advanced Features
Shorten Any Page with the Bookmarklet
The bookmarklet is a small button you keep in your browser's bookmarks bar. Press it on any web page and URL Shortify creates a short link for that page — no need to copy the URL and open WordPress.
PRO Feature
The bookmarklet is available in URL Shortify PRO.
Install it
- Go to URL Shortify → Tools → Bookmarklet.
- Make sure your browser's bookmarks bar is visible (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + B in most browsers).
- Drag the Shorten button from the page onto your bookmarks bar.
You only need to do this once per browser. Repeat it on each device or browser profile you use.
Use it
While viewing any page you want to share, click the bookmarklet in your bookmarks bar. URL Shortify creates a short link for the current page and shows it, ready to copy.
This is handy when you're researching, reading a newsletter, or browsing a partner's site and want a trackable branded link without switching tabs.
How it stays secure
The bookmarklet carries a secret token unique to your site, generated when the plugin is installed. Requests without a matching token are rejected, so the bookmarklet URL is not something to share publicly.
Treat the bookmarklet as private
Anyone with your bookmarklet link can create short links on your site. Don't post it publicly or share it outside your team.
