How Can I Add Magic Links To My Membership Or Course Emails?
Quick Answer
These are Pro features. Magic Link connects to MemberPress, Paid Memberships Pro, LearnDash, LifterLMS, and Tutor LMS. Once Pro is active, magic links appear in those plugins' emails automatically. There is nothing to configure.
Why This Helps
Think about what happens today when a member gets an email from your site.
They receive "Your membership is active" or "You have been enrolled in Advanced Photography". They click through. They land on a login form. They do not remember the password they set at checkout — often minutes earlier. They request a reset, wait for another email, choose a new password, log in, and finally reach the page you sent them to.
Most people give up somewhere in the middle. Not because they lost interest, but because the site asked them a question they could not answer.
With the integration active, that same email contains a link that logs them straight in and drops them exactly where they were headed:
- The moment right after payment is the moment that matters most. Someone who has just paid is as motivated as they will ever be. Spending that goodwill on a password reset is expensive.
- Course completion depends on getting started. A student who cannot reach lesson one does not come back for lesson two.
- Every login problem is a support ticket. Password resets are the single most common request most membership sites handle, and this removes the cause rather than the symptom.

How To Turn It On
There is no setting to switch on. Each integration detects its plugin and starts working:
- Make sure Magic Link Pro is active.
- Make sure the membership or LMS plugin is active.
That is all. If the other plugin is not installed, the integration stays completely inactive and changes nothing on your site.
How To Check It Is Working
The most reliable test is a real one:
- Create a test account with an email address you can read.
- Put it through the flow you care about — a test purchase, a manual enrolment, or a membership assignment.
- Open the email that arrives.
- Click the link in a private or incognito window. This matters: in your normal browser you are already logged in, so any link appears to work.
- You should land on the members' or course area already signed in.
Using The LifterLMS Merge Code
LifterLMS lets you build your own email templates. The integration registers a {magic_link} merge code you can place in them, so you control exactly where the login link appears in your own wording.
Type {magic_link} into a LifterLMS email template and it is replaced with a working link for whoever receives that email.
If Links Are Not Appearing
- Check both plugins are active. The integration is inert unless its partner plugin is running.
- Check the email is actually sent by that plugin. Some sites replace membership emails with a marketing tool or an automation. If the message comes from somewhere else, the integration never sees it — use Insert a Magic Link into your emails instead.
- Test in a private window. By far the most common false alarm.
- Check your link lifespan. If links expire in 15 minutes and your customer reads email an hour later, the link is valid but expired by the time they click. See Set Magic Link expiry.
